Killed at Blore Heath, 23 September 1459
James, 5th Baron, commanded Lancastrian forces at Blore Heath, a few miles from his own country, and was killed on 23 September 1459. Yorkist victory opened the Wars of the Roses in earnest.
He died on home soil. The honour did not die with him. His son took the writ.
