Created Earl of Castlehaven, 1616

In 1616 James I created George Tuchet Earl of Castlehaven in the peerage of Ireland, with the additional Irish barony of Audley of Orier. The English 1313 barony remained a separate, older dignity.

Two peerages, two kingdoms, one blood. The Irish earldom will later go extinct; the English barony will not, because it is heirs general.

Wardrobe

Jacobean black silk slashed with gold, falling ruff, ruby cloak lined ermine, pearl, the earl's coronet of silver balls on a golden circlet.
