Built Heighley, Red Castle, and Hulton Abbey
Henry is the architect of Audley power. He built Heighley Castle above the Cheshire plain, Red Castle to watch the Welsh marches, and Hulton Abbey in 1223 as the house's Cistercian charter-factory. Stone replaces timber. The family is no longer a tenant with a fine; it is a fortress dynasty.
The gold fret on red — gules, a fret or — crystallises in this generation as the hereditary bearing. It will quarter later with Tuchet ermine, but the lattice is the original charge.
His marriage into the Mainwarings (Bertred, daughter of Ralph Mainwaring) binds Cheshire and Staffordshire into one marital map, the same nexus the later Stanley and Sneyd cadets will mine.

Full mail, crimson surcoat charged with the gold fret — the lattice that will be the Audley arms for seven centuries. Great helm, gilded spurs, a cloak lined in miniver for the march.
