Held the castle on the eve of the writ
Nicholas held Heighley through the late thirteenth century and died in 1299. His grandson (or near heir of the same name) will be the man Edward II summons.
The castle is now a recognised honour: chapel, bailey, well, and a view that commands the road from Staffordshire into Cheshire.
