Three stags' heads; office held until 1863
In 1284 the Stanleys acquired the hereditary forestership of Wirral through Joan de Baumville. The coat — argent, on a bend azure three stags' heads caboshed or — is arms born in a forest, not a coronation.
William de Stanleigh the Elder built Storeton Hall with a royal licence for a turret and embattled walls. Hooton became the seat of the Stanleys of Hooton from 1411 to 1849.
